About Philip Lavender

I am a post-doctoral researcher with a background in Medieval Literature (in particular Old Norse sagas and poetry) but also a strong interest in Early Modern culture.

My current project is called “The Future in the Past” and is funded by the Swedish Research Council (Vetenskapsrådet). It will involve investigating the various concepts of the future which appear in a wide selection of premodern Scandinavian texts.

My previous project, funded by a European Commission Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship, was an investigation of saga forgery in 17th- and 18th-century Scandinavia. The results will be published in the near future as a monograph.
