Religious Studies and Theology

Studies in religion and theology open up knowledge and understanding of how people have formulated what is the ultimate purpose and meaning of life.

Central to research and education in this field is the human being and what he or she regards as most important in life, both historically and in our own time. This is what we traditionally call religion; however, conceptions of life and forms of living that have questioned the role of religion or that appear as an alternative to religious views are also studied.

Five areas of specialisation are studied:

  • Biblical Studies
  • History of Christianity
  • Religious Behavioural Studies
  • History of Religions
  • Systematic Theology
